Every Girl Matters: Support SA Victims in Congo

In DR Congo, conflict and poverty have left countless women and girls vulnerable to sexual violence. Many are rejected by their families and communities. Some become young mothers while they are still children themselves, with little access to education, employment, or the support needed to rebuild their lives. These young mothers fall into an endless cycle of trading their bodies in exchange for a meal, a shelter or medical support.

This is not right, these young mothers did not choose their reality, nor did they choose this life for themselves and their children, yet, society often shames, and blames girls like them for the abuse committed against them.

Through our Every Girl Matters: Support SA Victims in Congo fundraiser campaign, we are raising awareness on all social media platforms that victims of sexual violence should not carry the shame, nor should they pay for the crime committed against them. Most importantly, we will be providing practical, long-term support for survivors and young mothers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
