Hope G.C.L.M. Foundation was born out of a deep frustration, a decades-long weariness with aid dependency that never truly empowered anyone.
We know this because we lived it.
We are former child refugees and the grandchildren of refugees. We know what it means to depend on aid for survival. We know the uncertainty of waiting, wondering if the food would come today or not. We know the long hours standing in line, the endless paperwork, the exhausting back-and-forth to prove your name was still on the list.
We know what it feels like to be a number, not a person.
But our story does not begin in a refugee camp. It begins in the middle of a war.
Many of us were born during the Second Congo War. We inherited trauma we did not cause. We grew up in the aftermath, watching our families flee in the middle of the night, watching our mothers give birth at home without medical care, watching our communities lose lives to things that were entirely preventable.
We know what it means to have your childhood stolen. And we know what it means to refuse to let that define us.
A New Kind of Mission
When we started Hope G.C.L.M. Foundation, our mission was simple: provide sustainable solutions that help communities become independent and self-sufficient.
But we knew we had to do things differently. We made a deliberate choice: we would not be outsiders flying in to save anyone. We would be on the ground, working alongside our communities, listening to their needs, and supporting them at a grassroots level.
Our goal was never to create dependency. Our goal was to create dignity.
We wanted to bridge the gap between the saviour mentality and real community work. We wanted communities to thrive, not as charity cases, but as empowered people who dream, hope, and build their own futures.
What We Have Built Together
Since our founding on October 2, 2024, and our official registration on March 26, 2025, we have already begun to see the seeds of transformation take root.
We have drilled three water wells, bringing clean, safe drinking water to three communities. We have established a 22-acre community farm that serves as a source of nutritious food, local employment, and farming education. We have empowered women and young mothers through vocational training, employment, and business grants. And we have supported children in disadvantaged communities to get access to quality education.
This is not a story of what we plan to do. This is a story of what we are already doing, together.
This Is Just the Beginning
We are only getting started. The journey ahead is long, and the needs are great. But we are not walking this path alone. We are walking it with you, with individuals like you who continue to show up for our communities in Congo. Because this is not about us. This is about all of us.
Our Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Our mission in Congo is simple: everyone eats, everyone gets access to safe drinking water, every child gets a chance at an education, and every woman is empowered.
We believe that when we empower women, young girls, and entire communities, we are not just building a better present. We are building a future that is sustainable, just, and full of hope.
